I'm not sure where I picked up the bright yellow 'My Lovely Book', possibly in Paperchase stationery store or in Easons bookshop or at TK Maxx. It grabbed me, looked very summery and I reckoned it would be fun to fill out day by day. A simple challenge.
Published by Bloomsbury it's priced at £5.99 although I'm sure I paid less for it during a sale. Inside are a good range of coloured pages with simple suggestions. I found I filled out more than one in a single day and might well complete none on other days. It's a nice pick-me-up-when-you-feel-like-it activity book.
title pages and room for a 'photograph'
'places I want to go', colouring page and 'in the garden today'
Some of the pages request a photo which I see as an opportunity to draw instead. Other pages ask the reader to write a poem or make a list, and there are planner pages running through it, 10 in total. There are pages to cut and makes pockets from, and little invitations to fill out and give to friends asking them to tea or a picnic (hmm). Pages to colour-in and pages to doodle on. It's a nice version of this style of 'challenge' book. The pages take a proliner pen but are not great with markers unless you don't mind quirky bleed-throughs onto the opposite sides.
'write about your pets', 'be an architect' and sketch
creating pockets and 'favourite flower'
Each time I read the cover I think of the Craggy Island fathers singing a song for the Eurovision entitled 'My Lovely Horse'. I find myself singing along...
