Sketchbook images

Working in my sketchbook, doing a few drawings per day, catching up on time lost during block...

Love making soft watercolour images, sometimes use pan watercolour, sometimes water soluble pencils or crayons.

But there's a part of me that likes more dramatic images using black ink brushpen on top of colour on top of textured paper. Using white acrylic markers I build up texture and allow to dry before working on the treated surface.

Have been doing a lot of figurative work, sometimes from life and sometimes from visual research.

Art Journaling August

For the month of August I'll be Art Journaling. At the beginning of each week I'll be posting images of the previous week's journaling using A4 decorated cards on which I've doodled, written, pasted or quoted.

Painted the sheets with gouache and overlaid with Letraset flex markers. Coloured each sheet separately in Reds, Blues, Greens & Yellows.

Adhered white tissue, Indian paper and magazine images overlaid with more tissue stained with watered gouache.

Rubber stamps, inkpads, die cut card and Indian ink markers added more interest onto the surface layers.

Pentel brushpen used to doodle and write trigger words and phrases. Whatever I write the pages will be based on the previous week's happenings although the words and images may influence my journaling.
