ARTWORK...seven heads

Working in my sketchbook I doodled seven heads, all female and with different shaped faces and hair. It was an exercise. And then I continued to doodle swirls of colour around them.

Laid down base colours in coloured pencil before building shadow and highlight. Some faces weren't anatomically correct, their eyes drawn too close to their noses. This is a mistake I seem to do often...

My sketchbooks might be filled with studies of heads, profile and face-on, until I'm satisfied with my freehand drawing.
